Cast's mom was only 19 when she had Cast. She has no idea who the father is- probably just some guy from some one night stand somewhere somtime- and cut off contact with both her parents, so she raised Cast on her own as a single mother.

She uhh wasn't the greatest mother in the world. She struggled a lot with mental health issues and drug abuse, leading to her neglecting Cast for most of his life. Cast would often have to take care of himself as a kid, with his mom just straight up not coming home some nights. He also often ended up having to take care of her instead of the other way around, helping her whenever she came home drunk, consoling her when she cried about her problems, etc. This led to him spending most of his life suppressing his own needs to help others.
