project hail mary !!!

Project Hail Mary is a book written by Andy Weir that was also adapted into a movie. It's a sci-fi story where the sun is infected by something called astrophage and is dimming, threatening the survival of humans and everything else on Earth. It centres around the scientist Ryland Grace who got sent into space to a nearby (non-dimming) star to try and find a solution to this problem.

Both the book and the movie are really good in their own ways. The book brings out the science and also gives more detail on the things they did for the project on Earth (meeting the other scientists and getting those Earth scenes was fun). The movie develops the characters a lot more and brings out the emotions and wonder of the story. I love the book, but I think this is the first time I actually like the movie more than the book-- the MUSIC, the CINEMATOGRAPHY, CHARACTERS ARGGHHG SO GOOD

me myself and i

arghghgh this is the first time in a VERY long time where a story managed to make me fixated on it over my ocs haha. I first watched it with my friends when it was released in theatres. I went in completely blind and knew absolutely nothing about the movie-- I hadn't even watched the trailer which, in hindsight, I'm so glad I didn't because rocky was a surprise (and by nothing, I mean nothing. I thought the movie was a horror film called project HELL mary until like right before LMAO)

ANYWAYS from the start I really liked ryland's character and the movie made me feel so many emotions i didn't even know existed and think back to my own VERY UNRELATED experiences hahahah. I watched it again with another group of friends which helped me understand it a bit better.

Wasn't too interested in it for a while until I decided to read the book (because of how much grian was glazing it lmao) aaaand here we are lol. I went back to rewatch the movie again having read the book and was able to appreciate the cinematography, music, story, etc so much better
