What is it about??

Basically high school slice of life except they get stuck in liminal spaces sometimes

The story takes place at a boarding school near a small town called Cloverwood centering around a group of high school students and their teachers.

Why 404? The dorm I put them in originally was room 404. Solace named their group chat 404 not found, so that's what I decided to call the story! It also has some world lore significance too which is cool!

The world

Dreamspace is a dimension that's basically like a collection of liminal spaces. Each individual space is governed by a god-like character known as a watcher.

Watchers used to be humans, but gave up their lives in order to become a watcher and live in dreamspace forever. Any memories or objects associated with them in the normal world disappeared- it's as if they never existed as a person in the first place.

The characters

Callum has always had a strong connection with dreamspace, often going into it as an escape from the real world. When he was 8, he tried to kill himself in the forest near the school grounds, splitting his friend group apart. He wanted to become a watcher and stay in dreamspace, but was convinced otherwise by Eliot, an existing watcher, and given a second chance to live.

Many years later, he reunites with his old friends in high school as he tries to bring them together again and fix things before ending his life. The story surrounds these characters, a few of the other friends they make, and two teachers (who are both watchers trying their best to make sure these kids don't end up like them)
