Ather, Adri, and Cast were the oldest chracters I have from this story. I vaguely remember some older versions or ideas for them, but the earliest they had solid names and personalities was when in grade 7 when I created them as percy jackson ocs for a discord rp server I was in lol.

5 of the original main cast (as well as the characters from the paper hyacinths story) used to be percy jackson ocs lol:

• Ather: child of Athena
• Adri: child of Aphrodite
• Cast: child of Apollo
• Ace: child of Athena
• Callum: child of Demeter

The original story was that Ather, Adri, and Cast were on a quest for something. Some things that still match their current characters: Ather really wanted to go because she wanted to prove herself, Adri's backstory, and Cast's quiet and timid personality.

Callum and Ace were added as side characters, being friends that Ather had back at camp.

Amylase and Solace were added much later on when the story had already transitioned into a more high school slide of life one. I honestly don't remember where Solace came from (I think I started having ideas for him as a character after watching Gilmore Girls and really liking Lorelai's character and backstory). For Amylase, I think I just really wanted a perfectionistic academic weapon character lol. As for her name, I was learning about enzymes in grade 10 and was joking with my friends about how Amylase would actually be a nice name if it weren't an enzyme.

The teachers weren't as developped until recently. They obviously needed teachers, so I came up with 5 main teacher characters. Out of these, one became just a side / background character. The other 4 are all in one friend group with Eliot and Callie being the main focus.

Eliot was actually older than this-- he used to be a satyr that became Adri's sorta adoptive father figure back in the percy jackson days. Obv I had to add him back as a teacher to continue being a father figure for Adri <3

A different biology teacher used to fill Callie's role as Eliot's love interest, but I realised I really liked Callie and Eliot's dynamic so I switched her out lol. Also, in the past year or so, I had a really big hyperfixation on Callie's character and she went from being a basic teacher stereotype / caricature to being her own character!! This is also when I started developping her and Eliot's backstory more and coming up with more world lore based on that.
